Educated at Ampleforth College, West Surrey College of Art and Design, Manchester Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art (MdesRCA). Formed Seymourpowell with Richard Seymour in 1984.
Seymourpowell have won numerous design awards including Design Week, D&AD, ID Award, BBC Design Award, Minerva Award, D&AD President's Award, France's Janu Award, America's Starpak and Silver Screen Awards (for best corporate film), DBA's Design Effectiveness Awardss, the Gerald Frewer Memorial Trophy (for the Institute of Engineering Designers) and has been twice shortlisted for the Prince Philip Design Prize.
Dick sat on the Design Council for six years, the DBA board for three years and the Exectuive of D&AD for 3 years. This year he is President of D&AD. With Richard Seymour, Dick has appeared on numerous radio and television programmes including their own Equinox documentary for Channel 4 called "Designing Dream Machines", and later fronting a series of three programmes called "Better by Design", all for Channel 4.
Dick and Richard received an Honourary Doctorate from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and an Honourary Masters form the Surrey Institute.
